What is EFT?

The first time I heard of EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, or Tapping, was in 2014 from my acupuncturist,Joe, when I was still living in Hawaii. Joe was, in my opinion, a medical intuitive and an all around amazing human being. He was the first healer I'd ever met who was so grounded, funny, caring and...nerdy.

We all tend to have an idea of what a healer is supposed to look like, and that assumption is always wrong, because we are ALL healers. But that's a conversation for a different day.

When Joe told me about EFT he was joking around that I should learn it because I was seeing him so frequently for acupuncture. He explained to me how to worked with the same meridians, but it just didn't involve needles. I wasn't scared of the needles, but I could definitely see how it was appealing to people who are.

A few years later I met a girl online, Lisa. Lisa was a new EFT practitioner who was looking for sitters (Another term for guinea pig). I didn't really think I had an issue that needed to be resolved at the time, but the more I talked to her, the more she explained that it was just "emotional maintenance". In the same way we don't go to the gym, get the body we want, and then just quit and it stays, like all things, we maintain our practices so that we continue our optimal health.

I was willing to try, and I even set out to do a Personal Peace Procedure, which was eye opening. After that, I was hooked and started my own journey into learning EFT.

So EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, is often referred to as "Psychological acupressure". This healing modality works by releasing blockages within the energy system, which is the source of emotional intensity and discomfort.

These blockages in our energy system, in addition to emotions that challenge us or make us feel discomfort, will often lead to limiting beliefs and behaviors. This then can lead to a life that is lived out of balance and at a lower frequency. Then what happens is we will have symptoms, emotional and/or physical and include lack of confidence and self esteem, feeling stuck anxious or depressed, or the emergence of compulsive and addictive behaviors.

If there is ANYTHING I can stress to you about energy healing ,and what all of the different ways to heal has in common, it's that this Energy System is just called different things in different languages. And the way it is healed is through changing our beliefs in whatever way resonates with us.

So what's cool about that, is it is finally accepted that when we are out of balance emotionally this disharmony is a key player in physical symptoms and diseases. This is why so many new healing practices and modalities are being studied, and with astounding results. As such these techniques are being accepted more and more in medical and psychiatric circles as well as in the range of psychotherapies and healing disciplines. Let's just say, it's a rapidly growing career field!!!

So an EFT Treatment involves pretty simple, but profound, results. Using the same meridians that have been used in acupuncture, you will tap on these energy meridians that are just beneath the surface of the skin, instead of using needles!

EFT is a common sense approach that draws its power from Eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5,000 years.

In fact Albert Einstein also told us back in the 1920's that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy.

These ideas have been largely ignored by Western Healing Practices and Allopathic Medicine in general, and as they are unveiled in our current times, human process is reopening itself to the forgotten truth that everything is Energy and the potential that this offers us.

However, we see how our bodies produce and use energy every time we look at and EEG or EKG Meter. Those are electrical impulses being sent in our bodies.

EFT has provided thousands of people with relief from all manners of problems and conditions, often in startlingly quick time and after long and painful periods of searching for a cure. The diversity of successful treatments have ranged from trauma and abuse, phobias, self sabotaging behavior patterns, to deep set emotional conditions of anxiety and depression, addictions, physical illness, to name but a few.

It can also be used to let go of limiting beliefs around love, sex, money, and weight issues.

I'm really excited that more and more healing professionals are starting to use EFT. It is drawing the attention from doctors, scientists to the spiritualists and healers and everyone in between. It really is at the heart of rejoining of the old and new paradigms.

EFT restores awareness and trust in the natural healing abilities of our mind and body, providing ground-breaking opportunities to achieving physical and emotional well-being in a faster time frame.

Because the techniques are so simple, they can be used effectively as a self-help tool, which empowers people to actively contribute to their own healing and development process. This facilitates a much faster relief process, previously believed impossible by healthcare professionals who advocated lengthy (& often painful) hours in psychotherapeutic or medical care, often with limited results. These techniques do not discredit the medical and psychotherapeutic professions, but rather serve to contribute to a holistic healing process.

I'm so very excited to be offering an Accredited Professional Certification in EFT but if you're interested in booking your own session to see what it entails, maybe get some healing done and see how it feels, you can schedule an appt with me!
